Gold Bead Acupuncture Implants

This is a permanent treatment which is used to eliminate pain and stiffness in horses and dogs. Dr. Westman has implanted gold beads in hundreds of animals with excellent results. He is one of the few veterinarians in the nation to provide this service.

Traditional Acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture is often considered a 'new' therapy. Actually, it is thousands of years old and is believed to have been developed in China.

Acupuncture is used to treat lameness, stiffness, soreness and pain in horses and dogs. It is usually used in conjunction with chiropractic to enhance the results of the adjustment. It can be performed using needles with or without electrical stimulation attached.

Acupuncture is an effective treatment for navicular disease in horses. Acupuncture needs to be performed twice a week for 3 weeks. Horses need to be boarded at Exclusive Equine, in Hugo, to facilitate treatment. Dr. Westman's very first acupuncture case was a horse with Navicular disease that had been lame for three years. The horse went sound after 6 treatments!
